I have had a Betta for my daughter several years. We call her diamond. I noticed she had scratched her side and it looked like it was infected and a pretty big spot.
All my tanks ( 7) are Salt water mixed reefs all but her little freshwater tank . I took her and started dipping in Bifuran 5 mins every 2-3 days and I added a small amt of Kanaplex to her water and after 3 weeks she is all healed up. It makes me feel good to know I did my best and saved her.:yay:
I have learned over the years you win some and you lose some but I feel like we owe it to the fish to treat them the correct way and try our best to keep them healthy and alive.
I am not fish expert by any means but after some research and asking the right people and getting good advice and using it makes a big difference.
I am glad I joined this club and it has a lot of great people and great advice. I hope a lot of the people who just start up do so with patience and keep the live stock in mind also.:fish:

Nice job! I'm sure your actions also will be remembered by your daughter and will help to instill the importance and value of life, as small as it my be.
Kinda cute that a big brute like you is tender hearted enough to nurse such a small common little thing to health.

Nice job! So what the diagnosis was? Little fungus infection? Nice job as important to keep the life of the fish and to show your daughter! Good lesson right there! Long but long ago I had bettas, and I gave one to my sister and believe me that fish last close to five years! I felt so proud of her because at beginning I thought she wasn't taking care for him but my surprise was when I so how long she kept him. Then back in the the days I used to care for Oscars cichclids, I had one that used to jump to catch the food from my fingers! And I had some others that I grown from 1.5inch to close to 10 inch but the worse day was after almost 3 years with one Oscar that I found lying on the sand, he die because of my fault of over feeding, some days you really feel good for what you can do for them but sometimes I been feeling bad as well

I do think it was a Fungus infection but She liked to get inside this little ornament in the tank and I think she had some Bacteria infection from getting sctatched from getting in the tight spot
or wore a raw spot that became infected. So far so good I do love to watch them but when they get sick and you have to watch them go down hill it stinks
