Hello, not really a new member. I've been a supporting member on and off for a few years. I used to live in Athens then moved to Lake Oconee. I've really only ever been to the expo for meetings as it was so far. In November, we moved to west georgia (Carroll County). Well, now instead of 75 miles from Atlanta, I'm ONLY 42. So much more manageable. Anyway, I recently purchased a 120 to set up my first "large" reef. Currently running a 29 biocube and a 29 frag tank along with a 55 freshwater and a 7.5 cube with a betta.
A little about me, I'm a double Dawg. I got my bachelor's in Wildlife Science and Fisheries and Aquaculture (really majored in fish, go figure). I got my MS in Spatial Information Technology. For a time, I worked for DNR in fisheries management, specifically monitoring systems for non game species diversity. It was an incredible experience. I've been able to catch and hold probably about 200 of the 300 native freshwater fish in this state including some threatened and endangered species which is super cool. However, as with many cool jobs, it did not pay enough to support my wife and child (or my coral habits). I now do GIS work.
Anyway, I plan on at least trying to attend some meetings moving forward. I hope to meet some (more) of you in the coming months.
Pops
(Pictures are a few of my favorite fish: Etowah darter, Talapoosa bass, speckled darter)
