a second cycle!@!@!

There is an older school of thought that would actually advise against water changes during the times of high ammonia and nitrite. This is because if there isn't enough bacteria to process the waste, removing the waste won't solve the problem! The bacteria must have the food present to grow and build up. Removing the waste may make the owner and the fish feel better, but only prolongs the problem.

Edit: I never really understood why people immediately suggest water changes. The prime and stability on the other hand, are suggestions that I will agree with.

Back when I was a kid in the 80s, some people would cycle the tank with a clown fish. I can only imagine adding your next fish after cycling with a maroon clown. Clowns got more expensive so people moved to cheap damsels. Then we realized having the first inhabitants being mean little #%!@ing damsels was terrible.

I had to completely remove everything from my tank in the late 90s to get out that domino damsel that was killing my expensive fish. So I don't cycle without fish because its humane. I do it because I hate damsels.

Lol I like damsels and also I hbe only been doing littl water changes not big one and I have been dozing prime and going to get stability today and hopefully I can get some more live rock soon

okay well new update!!! almost all the levels are zero again except for amonia still little over zero but i got 40 lbs more of live rock and only lost two yellow tail damsels everything else is thriving and doing well also got lucky and found some corals on my live rock here a pic of the tank now
