Well, i got home and noticed my regal tang is RIDDEN WITH ICK - BAD!! i am setting up the QT to treat with Para Guard but im not sure i can get him out without dismantling all my rockwork and disrupting the tank big time...any suggestions? he gets nervous and hides everytime i get near the tank

Turn off all your lights and set a net inside your tank like if it was a decoration;then scoop it up!

As much as I love Seachem, Paraguard isn't the best treatment for Ich, IMO...

Metronidazole & Focus in the food can be done without removing the fish. The damage is done now - so might as well feed them all with Met & Focus... garlic to make it more palatable and boost the immune system.

sounds good Jenn - do you have any Metronidazole & Focus in stock?

Just dipped mine. It was easy to catch...as most lifeless fish are. What bothers me the most is that this fish was doing great! I am going to initiate a post asking for a list of ich-resistant fish. Treating with Metro started yesterday. Spots appeared on Tuedsay night. I am also rasing the temp and increasing circulation for obvious reasons.

Tony - any fish can get ich. Some are more prone than others - scaleless and thin-scaled/skinned fish are most vulnerable - tangs top the list there.

A few don't seem to get it often - mostly clowns, mandarins or other fishes that secret a unique slime coat that seems to be a bit harder for the ich to penetrate - but by no means is any fish immune to it.

Quarantine is the best defense from it becoming a problem in the display tank - then if it occurs it can be dealt with swiftly and effectively.

+1

Might as well not stress the fish anymore by removing him and dipping him. Letting the fish get comfortable and help his immune system fight it off with the metro & Focus. I also fed lots of nori soaked in that combination and it helped my tang fight it off.
