My AC has been out for about a month. I have been able to keep the tank at or below 85. I have been keeping a close eye to make sure all remains healthy. Today my foxface decided it wants to be "scared" and not eat all day, so I assume he is gonna be the first loss. He did so well for quite some time so I'm so disappointed as I know I'll probably never see another juvi thrive so well in a small tank. Just had to vent.

The temp did not do it . Any other issues?

all params are perfect, nothing as of note other than 2 temp spikes of nearly 90 in the past 2 days.

Edit: maybe flux in temps from 80 during cooler hours and 85 when the house heats up.

salinity has been stable, water changes as normal, ph is slightly low at like 7.8/8.0, but it's been like that since I set up the tank so I haven't really fought for a number.

I dont think its a water quality/temp issue. Foxface are easily stressed and while agresssive can be fragile. What species is it?

Sounds like an aggression or environmental issue to me..

But seriously, get the AC fixed....85 is on the very high end of safe IMO.

While 85° he was probably just fine. 90° on the other hand is probably what did him in.

I do have a little damsel that can be rough, but it usually only fights with my clown and leaves the foxface alone. Sadly I didn't know there were many different foxfaces. I knew there were a handful of rabbit fish. As far as I know its just a traditional yellow and black/white foxface. Time to get rid of the damsel maybe?

Edit:

That's what I was suspecting.
The AC should be fixed tomorrow or by the weekend, I just had to get the funds together so I could actually get it fixed. I have a room AC with the fish tank, but its way underpowered so it helped, but when it got to 90+ the past couple days...it just couldn't do enough.

Honestly, with all the fans in most of my windows, I'd suspect my o2 levels to be better than normal. Unless I misunderstand the concept.

Make sure the gas exchange is ok... At higher temps o2 lvls can suffer. Make sure your surface is being constantly agitated

It's not the amount of air circulating in the room, but simply that the oxygen carrying capacity of water drops as the temperature rises.

I'm no scientist though. Hope the fish hangs on until the weekend.

Sending good thoughts your way and hoping the fish pulls through. One of my AC units went out yesterday. Fortunately for the fish it is the upstairs unit and the fish are on the main floor. Didn't do much for my ability to sleep last night though. LOL All the bedrooms are upstairs.
