I've got a couple of Acan frags that are bleaching out, one of them is pretty bad. Almost completely white, and I fear on the edge of death. I've moved them out of the light, but is there anything else I can do to make sure they recover?

Feed them if they have the feders out. What kind of lighting did you have them under? I moved mine from under PC's to under halides and the reds really popped some more.

They're about 12 or more inches under 70w metal halides. One has been in there for quite a while, a couple months maybe, and is just now starting to bleach. The other I bought from Rit maybe a month ago, and has gone completely white.

Haven't tried feeding. I'll test my params again, I haven't done it in about a week, but all of my other corals are doing fine, and I do have one other acan that is not bleaching. These two were right in the middle of the bottom of the tank, under the metal halides. I'm wondering if it might have been too much. I didn't acclimate them to the light. Is feeding the only thing I can do to help them recover (besides maintaining proper water parameters)?

Just move them to softer light. Most LPS are pretty hardy so if you can feed them they should recover just fine.

Do you have any pics? I've never seen a bleached acan and would like to see one. I have a couple that seem to have been pissed off and shrunk up for months but nothing that extreme.

good luck though.. feeding has always made me happy should make your acans happy too :D

Hehe. Unfortunately I don't have a decent camera. The worst one is shriveled up and almost snow white.
