I've been running 4x54 watt T5's on a 55 in a canopy and recently got a 2x250 watt MH fixture (Thanks Robb) I was wondering what lighting schedule to run to acclimate the tank to the increased light or if is even necessary. I was thinking 4 hours a day for 2 weeks then 6 hours a day for 2 weeks etc. I was wondering what thoughts y'all have on it. Thanks for any input/thoughts.

Do a much shorter photo period. And if possibly raise the light up really high if possible. Even put eggcrate on top of the tank. Your going from a large spread of light to 2 focused points. There is a big change.

Thanks, The fixture will be 16" over the water and I've got some screen to put over it if need be. Do you think 4 hours to start it off is too much? The T5's were on a 10 hour a day schedule.

I went from 8 hours of 4x54 T5's to 4 hours of 2x175MH and bleached 4 SPS colonies that were half way down my 90...this with lights 12" off the water in crummy spider reflectors...

Yeah, it's a huge difference.

I guess I just got lucky... I went from 6x54 T5s to 2x250 PFO pendants, and I shortened my PP from 10 hours to 8... not much change, and I had nothing but positive results... no protests from any corals.

I had not thought about adding more light being bad for corals.... I will be moving my corals to my 125 this weekend after christmas i got the aquatic life t5 ho fixture 8 bulbs 39 wats my 55 had power compacts 4 65 wat bulbs lights on there get ran to much today i turned them on at 8am and off at 1 am i have a timer i just hate it lol.... should i do the same.... shorten my light time?
