I just bought new T5 bulbs for my light fixture and swapped the old with the new. How should I be acclimating the tank to the new bulbs? Should I reduce the light cycle over a period of time?

Help would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Denise

T5 to T5? How many bulbs and what size tank? I just upgraded my 72 gal. bow-front with a 4 bulb T5 fixture and did 2 of 4 bulbs the first night and the other 2 a couple nights later. Everything adjusted immediately. If your changing fixtures try leaving some bulbs out the first couple nights.

I have a 72 gallon bowfront as well. The fixture that I have is a combo T5 / MH / LED. It has 4 T5's, all of which were replaced.

IMO it's best to error on the side of caution since too little light in this situation won't do any real damage but too much can cause some sever damage.

The old t5's were at least 13 months old.

This is good information by the way. Would you apply the same rule for MH's? I am looking to replace my 13 month old MH's this weekend - at least I hope.

Thank you in advance for your help!
