I was at Euinsteins last week and saw an Elos Mini empty, and I never realized that the smaller elos tanks had two piece bottoms, but there was the Mini, with a bottom made of two pieces of glass joined by a flange running front to back. Chris said it was called a floating bottom.

Whats the purpose in the floating bottom</em>?

I believe it is designed that way to allow the tanks to sit directly on the stands, per Chris at Einie's.

LOL, ALL tanks sit directly on stands........

Do you mean instead of using foam to line the tank bottom?

Do people bother with that on nano tanks?

I understand that. But Elos tanks are different. And Elos stands are different.

If you have ever seen an Elos Mini, the stand is flush with the 4 sides of the tank. Open a Mini stand, and the entire front 1/2"-3/4" of the tank is hanging unsupported. Same withthe rear of the tank, I believe.

Sounds interesting....... I guess its just something you have to see to completely appreciate.

The two piece bottom probably also lets it sit without foam as you said. My 100 gallon rimless sits on 3/4 styro foam. No warranty without that.

Amano huh? Shouldn't you make it into a freshwater planted aquarium.

Yes his tank are amazing but im not into the high tech freshwater gig, This tank is now for sale in the drygood section for $75 FYI everyone

Hey if you come down on the price at all I may be interested. I know that's what you paid, but I can't pay that much for such a small tank...

If i were to go down on price i would probably just keep this one unless you had a uber nice frag to offer with lower price
