Here are two videos of my 465 gallon SPS tank, both shot by Joe Hutto for me. First is from September 2012 right after I set the tank up. The second was shot last night. Lights have changed from Radions to Radium Halides, and a few corals have moved around, but most are still where they were placed. Enjoy.

Spoiled Brat!!! LOL

Gorgeous tank Dave. I love it. What kind of fish is the yellow one at the 4:00 minute mark?

I member that you said MH is still the king for acro.

Thanks Raj. Looked it up. It bit too expensive for me. LOL Gorgeous fish though.

Thanks guys. I have also started using kalkwasser in the tank in the last couple months in addition to a calcium reactor. Had to increase he calcium reactor pH setpoint some, but have it balanced to maintain a KH of just under 9 dKH right now.

Big thanks to Joe for taking the videos. The bright halides washed out the coral colors a bit in the vid, but at least the amount of growth is viewable.

I hope the GoldFlake doesn't turn into a problem later, but I am enjoying him right now. I don't mind a bit of acro polyp munching, as long as there is enough growth there to support it.

It would be very cool to be able to have an Orange Spotted Filefish a la David Trombly, but I think my colonies need to be a lot larger to even think about adding one of those. For those unfamiliar, the OS Filefish only eats acropora polyps.

One of the most enjoyable fish is the Quoy's Parrot. Bought him from SEA several months ago. No regrets with him at all, and some of the best color for the $ in any fish I have ever bought. They do get up to 8" in length I think, so definitely a fish for the larger tank. Mine is almost comical when he acts like he is attacking the front glass with his beak all open.

Very nice Dave! How high are your mh's above the water surface? How long are you running them per day? It looks like you're only running them & some moonlights.

The Radium bulbs are almost exactly 22" above the water surface. 20" from the fixture splash glass (bottom) to the water, and the bulbs sit about 2" higher than that. They come on at 4:30pm and go off at 12:30am, for an8 hour photoperiod. 7 ours would probably be ok as well.

The LumenMax Elites tend to spotlight at lower heights and have a footprint of 14" x 14", and I have been thinking of trying some similar, but larger at 20" x 20" Hamilton Technology reflectors that should spread the light more, hopefully allowing me to lower the lights some. I'd like to see if there is any impact on the coral color.
