After talking to some of the SPS experts and doing some research I have found that my new SPS colony pictures below is a Acropora Secale, Blue Tipped.

When fraging some pieces last night I also found that I am the lucky owner of 2 Acro Crabs that are inhabiting the colony. Amazing little suckers, and I am very suprised they survived since I didn't aclimate them to when I put the colony in the 160.

WOW that is beautiful, if you decide to frag it... please put me on your list...

Ha, that means mine is too. Ridin' the coat tails. Hahaha.

I swear mine's already growing.

That's a valida imo. A secale has thicker branches with similar coloration. Very nice though. I bet it colors up real well.

Here's a few other pics of valida. I think you'll agree that is what you have. I'm 100% certain :p.

I tend to agree with Jin but it's all guesswork!

Acro crabs are awesome. i wish someone would breed them!

Jin... I think you are spot on with the ID! Thanks!

This was really a test for the SPS ID'ers out there!

My pleasure. They're very closely related. One is just a lil thicker than the other. It could be a secale on a diet? :)

Hey wait a minute....who found those crabs?? Tisk tisk! lol. Thanks again for the frags last night, you definitely need to come by and pick up a few things.

It's true...Lee has crabs..ummm I mean he can ID crabs. Thanks for pointing them out, I honestly would have never looked, especially down in the colony for crabs.

heh yeah, thats the first thing I look for with corals these days. I figured a colony as large as that for sure would have 1....but 2! man thats awesome.

That is a nice looking coral. I'm tending to agree with w/ Jin that it is a valida, from your picture.

Either way great find. Where did you pick it up? Always keeping my eye for new coral sources to spend my kid's college education.

Great looking coral. What is scary is the giant finger monster in the back left of the picture. Look out Tang, it's coming for ya!

It's from Saltwater City.

Are your acro crabs white ,because i 2 in colonies and mine are white. I feed them with i dropper. There pretty cool

i have a colony with two in it also. Just make sure they are not the hairy one's with blue eyes. Those are supposed to feed on the coral itself or be detrimental in some way.

Very nice coral.
