Ok, i am in the process of cleaning some frag tanks on my porch and it is supposed to be really cold the next few days. They have water/vinager in them since I am getting the old coraline off, etc..

Will they be ok? It would be a huge pain to bring them in....

When water freezes, it expands. It is possible that the ice would cause a crack.

I dont know if the vinegar alters the freezing temp.

Pour some anti-freeze in them...j/k
Don't take the risk man, you'll be kicking yourself.

put some salt in there it lowers the freezing point dramatically so you wont have to worry about the ice damaging your tank

Edit: it can be regular table salt or epsom salt just figured it mention it so that way you dont end up using a bunch of expensive aquarium salt

So what you are saying is that you have several expensive tanks sitting outside you house where no one is guarding them and you have just let every reefing fanatic in and around ATL know, hmmm....

for the record, Just kidding!

Don't chance it.... a few years back I left my brew vessels ( 6 gallon and a couple 5 gallon galss carboys) outside during what I thought would be a heavy frost. Checked them later that morning everything looked fine.... later that week I went to pick one up and the the bottom fell out, literally. Lost 5 gallons and 2 of the 5 gallon. I know acrylic is different then glass, but why chance it.
Just heard... we are expecting snow on Wen up in my neck of the woods, oh boy!

I wouldn't go lurking around Mike's house. No way! Ever met him? He's built like Jon bones Jones and can pull some fu man chu on ya!

As with any cold weather, shrinkage can be a problem... :boo:

I'd be worried about the acrylic contracting enough to pop the seams, or stressing them enough so that when you fill them up with water... pop.

Haha..Yeah, I've met him and his son and they are good people. While I don't want anyone to go all "cobra kai" on me, I just don't like to think that I could steal something from some one. I have met too many people that can and have and I've been on the subtraction end of that equation more then I've ever wanted to be and don't want to make others feel that way. I'm a firm beliver that locks only keep honest people out and if someone wants something bad enough they will try and take it you can only slow them down, hopefully long enough so that can be stopped. I just don't like to make this easy for them. But enough of that

Mike don't let 'em freeze!

Freezing pint of vinegar is 28. When the water expands it will go up, so unless they're covered, they'll prob be ok. I still wouldn't risk it though.

That's what the wife and kids are for Mike! I had my 5 year old daughter raking leaves this past weekend. That's right, I'm a slave driver. No kid of mine will grow up not knowing what work is! hahahhaha

Toss the keys to the skyline in one of them and I'll come by and "keep an eye" on them for you.

Well we did it and wife loved it.... Not!
Only one we couldn't get was big sump that must have been thicker acrylic cus it was a ton heavier... Not much water at all in it (1/4 inch maybe) so hope it'll be ok!

We don't need to hear about your sex life Mike! With that said, I don't think I would mention "NOT" hahahahaha

C'mon man, toss that tank on her back and tell her to march! You do that Bootcamp stuff, belt it out like you have a pair! ahhahahaa
