Addiction to getting new coral, anyone else?

I've only been in the hobby for 8 months or so and I've already accumulated a massive amount of frags and coral. My tanks are 72g and 29g, so space is beginning to run out and fast. I've gone through a softies phase, zoa phase, SPS phase, and now a chalice phase.

My tank has PLENTY of stuff in it to grow out and be more than full. The sandbed is almost covered with coral, and the upper rockwork has SPS frags everywhere.

I guess my question is, does anyone else find themselves always checking Diversden/online sites and wanting to grab something new? And if you do, what other things do you do with your tank and hobby to stay busy and quit adding new stuff? At this point, (other than small zoas/chalice) I have no more room. I feel like I need an intervention, haha.

The solution to your addiction is to get a larger tank! I've been through the phase that you are going through. I had to quite buying because I lost my job in 2009 where I was making really good money to pacify my addiction :-)

Good luck, I'd love to see pics of the tank if you don't already have them on ARC.

I had 100 different species of acroporas in my 210 a couple years ago. Easy to do when they are just sticks. You have to start editing when they begin to grow out. Becomes a choice of the best of the best. I have recently stopped buying corals for the most part. If I do buy anything it is because of a rare color or shape. I have a couple plate sized tabling acros now that started out as 3/4" frags.

You can only have so many blue and green acroporas before they start to get boring, IMO. Shape and color are the main things I look for now.

In terms of monetary value, I'd guess it would be the colony of Purple Monster I have. It is pretty big and it grows slowly. Got mine about 2.5 years ago from Rit as two $75 each 3/4" frags.

My favoite acropora from a looks perspective is my colony of ORA pearlberry. About the size of a softball/grapefruit. Got about 4 different colors on it.

I also have a colony of prostrata that is the absolute brightest, neon green color you have ever seen in an SPS. It even glows with no lights on. Makes Bali green slimer look drab. I have named it the Green Monster Acropora, because the name I bought it under is a sexual reference. It is a no name, non-LE, but really should be, IMO. I have only fragged it three times. I think Oz, Jhutto, and Felix have a piece of it.

Any pics of the prostrata?

Heres a full tank shot from a month or so ago, it's changed a good bit since then, lot more sps.

Your acros are some of the nicest I have seen Dave. The frags I got from you are doing great, and that makes me think I need to visit you again soon.:):)
