advice on setting up a 90g in a condo

I am thinking about taking the plunge on a 90g, and my only concern is the extra work associated with a larger tank in a smaller condo (1,100 sq ft). I think I can keep a bunch of 5gal buckets in my closet, but a brute trashcan probably won't be able to go in the place.

Any other things I should be concerned about, as far as maintenance goes?

The biggest tank I have owned was a 50g cube, so it was a bit easier to maintain. I am thinking of going the canopy route with Halides (to save on money, which may mean a chiller will be a needed)

You should be good man. I have a 120 in 1000 sq. foot apt. About to downgrade due to moving though. Moving a 4 foot tank would be a chore, so consider that.

I have a 150 in 1200sq-ft.

You have to get creative.

Here's my RO setup:

For water collection/storage, I found this "Gamma Vittles Vault" which is a 50# dry food storage container made of food-grade plastic. It is 14x14x20 and holds 15 gallons PERFECTLY which is exactly what I use for my water changes. I keep 15 gal of RODI 24x7 and the night before I do a change, I will add my salt, a powerhead and a heater, and then on change day I can wheel it out and do the change pretty easily. This seemed like the perfect container for a small space.

Jef4y,

That is awesome! Do you mind if I come check out your set up in person some time? I live in midtown now, which I believe isn't too far from you? I am looking for some planning ideas, so anything helps!

Sure thing! No prob. Has to be sometime on Sun or a night next week.

My house is 1250 sq/ft I have a 72 gallon, a 75 gallon, a 12 gallon, and soon to replace the 72 a 225. I prefer a tank in every room I'm in. I have my mixing station set up in the spare bath tub that never gets used. If company comes over I wheel it all outside. But normally it is a train wreck on water change day.

What about the weight if not on the bottom floor? I have my 58g in the corner of an external wall and the paint in the corner has seperated from what Im guessing the weight. Just a thouht.

I am on the second floor. From what I understand it is 20lbs per square inch in a room- So I think it should be okay. The place was also built in 1920 with plaster walls, etc. so it is built very well.

Any structural engineers want to chime in?
