Hey guys,

Thanks for the offers for skimmers, but I went ahead and bought a prizm pro deluxe from Ocean Treasures. Any advice how I set the flow just right? How fast should the thing bubble? It was this or a CLS 65. Experiences?

After running a prism on several tanks I would give it a C+ or B- as far as performance. I've never been a heavy feeder and the tank the prism were on, always had a low bioload, so I never really pushed the skimmer hard. I would recommend cleaning the skimmer neck about every 2-3 days to keep the performance up. Try to keep your water level consistent or else the skimmer won't skim or it may over flow the collection cup.

Mine was a pita when it hung on the back with the skimmer bucket, it was always needing adjustment. When I put in in the sump with out the skimmer bucket and turned it up full flow it does a real nice job. Have to clean 2-3 days but I feed a lot.

Hey guys,

I have it set where foam is collecting at the top REALLY SLOWLY. But I do see drops collecting. The foam is mostly white so far (in fact entirely). I also have two other HOB filters. I also have a low tank load and feed sparingly. Overkill is not a problem as I prefer super clean water to dirty water.

Just remember to ALWAYS top off BEFORE you attempt to adjust the skimmer. Over the coarse of a few days, I would always adjust the Prizm to the point I was getting a full collection cup of skimmate a day. That way, I always new I was getting everything out of the device I could, as emptying the skimmer once a day was all I had time for. Ofcoarse you can forget the dry foam hype companies use to market skimmers, just shoot for murky brown green water, and do clean the collection cup every few days. My prizm did as bout as well as my Aqua C Remora, it just required more tinkering, but it also cost 3 times what the Prizm cost, so theres a trade off.
