Hi,

I have a 125 72" long all glass new tank. I am planning to use the marineland monterey series stand for this tank. I like this stand because its much nicer looking than the all glass stands. Apart from the warranty issues, do you see any issues in mixing the various brands? Since the stand and hood is more expensive than the tank, should I sell the tank and get the one from marineland?

Thanks

As long as it fits...

I've had issues with mixing brands when the stand has a lip on it that conceals the aquarium trim. I believe it was a Marineland tank on an AGA stand ... that didn't fly. Somebody's trim was wider and as such the tank did not fit.

The marineland tank has a lip but only on three sides. Its about 1/4" longer and wider than the outside dimensions of the AGA tank.

Then it might work.

I remember Marineland tank didn't fly on AGA stand, but the reverse may not apply.

Thanks.

I measured the tank and the stand. Looks like the stand is about 1/4" bigger on all sides than the tank.. This should fit.

Just make sure all edges of the tank are supported. If there is any part of the tank hanging over the side of the stand, you run the risk of putting too much stress on that edge and could possibly cause the tank to crack.

From the sound of your measurements, you should be OK.
