Well I ordered the 70's for my AI SOL and they came today. I took out one of the middle optics from the light and I can not tell a difference between what was in there and the new ones. Should I be able to tell just by looking? Thanks!
No and yes. If you have really good eyesight and dirty water, and the unit is close to the water suface you should see the beams on the 40. On the 70 the overlapping is linear so it's really hard to see the spot lighting
Thanks. I mean when I am holding them in my hand and looking at them side by side they look the same... Should there be a noticeable difference to the naked eye? Thanks.
Thanks. On the new "70's" there is a circle type imprint on the flat surface. It matches the imprint on the original end units on the light which are supposed to be 70's so I guess they are OK. Thanks.
D,
Bud's right....there is a small plastic dot in the middle of the flat side of the 70 degree optics, and this is not present on the 45 degree optics. Sol Blues come stock with 70 optics on the 4 end clusters and 45s on the inner 4 clusters.
Here is an interesting article on determining which set of optics you need from the Deltec website:
