Aiptasia eating fish

What kind of success have you had with fish that are supposed to eat aiptasia? Peppermint shrimp have worked well for me but I have an aiptasia problem in another tank that has an eel.

Any fish you would recommend? And where could I get one?

Butterfly or Filefish if I remember right.

File fish - also easy to catch if you need to remove. Make sure you get the right species - some LFS sell other filefish that do not eat aptasia

Apparently the copper banded butterfly is great. Also berghai nudis.my peppermint shrimp seem to take care of all the small ones.

I had a Heinochus angel that would go mad at them but only if they were small polyps. Wouldn't touch the larger ones. My file fish is ugly, but I haven't seen anymore since I out him in there.

So now here's the question, where can I get one? Maybe one to borrow until the job is done? I have things like chaeto or nassarious snails to trade if someone has one to lend

Picked up a file fish from a member. Didn't appear it was doing anything withe the aptasia. But what I have since noticed is that when I used to kill it off it would be back in a week. Now I killed it off and it hasn't come back. Conclusion? I think the file fish likes the new small stuff and is getting anything that is sprouting.

When I bought it I planned on selling it to another member who wanted it when I am done. But now, he has grown on me. LOL. Sorry Jef4ry.

I had not planned on getting a butterfly but I guess I will get a couple of them. Is it cool if I get 2 of these guys. They wont fight or anything will they if I put 2 coral banded butter flys in my 75 gal. Thank You!!!!

Do lots of research on them before buying one.

I tried the superglue suggestion that was made to me a while back and wow it worked like a charm. I had one aptasia that was growing on a radioactive dragon eye zoa plug and causing several of the zoas not to open up, so i took the plug out, added a drop of superglue to the aptasia and placed it back in tank, and voila no more aptasia. Now all the zoas are opening up nicely, worked like a charm.

Does anyone have trouble with these fish eating your good polyps ? Ive been seeing a few pop up lately.

They will eat zoas and softys.

Haha. no problem! I figured you would & I was going to look for one anyway =)
