Any ideas on how to kill this one aiptasia in this colony of Zoas? I tried 3 peppermint shrimp but they went MIA after about 2 weeks.

Don't quote me on this, but I think you'd be best off with lime juice in a syringe or a majano wand, since you're working with such a restricted area because of the zoas. Those little buggers are stupid fast.

This is probably the best, but not cheapest, way to selectively kill aiptasia that is between desirable stuff with the least amount of collateral damage.

I have a reefer friend that has one of these and he loves it.

If anyone has one they want to rent out for 10 minutes, or swing by for removal, I'd be happy to pay in frags (not that I have much good) or a killer burger at 5-Napkin Burger, etc..

Inquire within :D

a drop of sodium hydroxide would work but you would have to be pretty careful to suck it back in quickly so it doesnt sit on your zoas

I've had luck with Aptasia-X. If you put a drop in the center of it's disc it will close up around it and collapse. When I've done it around zoas I got a drop on them but they recovered pretty quickly when I siphoned it off. I don't know the science behind it but when it gets on stuff I don't want to hurt I can siphon it off without much damage. I typically use kalk but that has a worse outcome when it gets on zoas so the Aptasia-X (brand name) is what reach for when I'm working in close quarters.

If it's possible to pull the rock out, you can just rub some reef salt on them. Won't hurt the zoas, but will melt the nems almost instantly.

 and I thank YOU for them

They are my favorite. I forget the name of them, but they're sexy for sure.

Brian, I just had the rock out last weekend.. I could have rubbed some salt on it then. Wish I would have known! I guess the next time I do a water change I can try this.

They're definitely sweet... I should shoot pics of the others. They're growign out nicely too...

Magician are a pally, they are pink/brown not brght orange. Thry also have green splatter not white with a green ring

You also have to consider this was taken with an iPhone.

From the pic, I'm with ya. I've seen my Magicians be exactly that. Magical. They've turned more colors than a kaleidoscope on an acid trip. Just depended on where I put them in the tank.

It works really well, and is quick. Have you thought about trying peppermint shrimp?
