I bought a maxima clam a few weeks ago and of course once I brought it home I realized there was 2 aiptasia on the side of the clam. I was able to scrape one of them out, but it was difficult because I didn't want to leave the clam out of water. Does anyone recommend any other good ways to get rid of it? Would a peppermint shrimp be able to get in there and get the job done?

Maybe the super glue trick would work well here. The clam doesn't even have to be completely out of the water.
Pull the clam to the surface and expose the part ofthe shell where the aiptasia is located. When he retracts, put a blob of the super glue gel over the hole, lower back into the water. The glue should cloud over immediately, and the aiptasia will not be able to get out.
Another step you can add is to heat up a small nail until it is red hot (I use a kitchen torch), and poke the aiptasia until you get a good sizzle. The fried critter sticks to the nail and you can remove what you can, still putting the blob of super glue over what is left. I get a creepy amount of enjoyment from the sizzle. "KILL IT WITH FIRE" as they say...

Are there any tips for removing the clam for the rock safely? He is attached to a piece of live rock and is attached prettttttyyyyy well.

Never had a clam myself, but I would imagine pulling the entire rock up is preferred (if possible). If not possible, maybe stick with dawgdude's suggestion, or use Joe's Juice or some other product that has been discussed on these forums at length.

But yes, ALL of them will hurt the clam if done incorrectly. Basically, just be sure to keep the treatment method (whichever you choose) LOCAL to the aiptasia. Don't let any of them touch the soft tissue of the clam, and don't go crazy with volume. This is one of those cases where less is more.

Appreciate it. My question was in regards to all the methods haha thanks chymos. I think I may try to take the rock out and scrape it off, but I am not sure how easy that rock is going to come out.

Btw what size is the tank?
