Alex's 29g HQI Biocube Build.

sort of often, like every 2 weeks (I just top off with RODI every day). But I found out that my fish had brooklynella, which was brought in from the coral beauty. This is a horrible parasite that is worse than ick. I am really mad at the fish store who sold this fish to me, because they said that they had this fish for a couple of weeks (infection and death happen relatively quickly, within 2 weeks or so, and once visible signs show, it takes about 3 days till death) Symptoms are almost identical to what the internet says. Anyway, I am just going to let my tank fallow for a month or two with a UV sterilizer running. Also the other problem might be these coral frags I got from the same store might have came with these flatworms. They are small and clear, with an orange "eye", but the smaller ones are just orange (hoping that is just because their eyes are really big and once they get bigger the clear body will show up) I really hope they are not those orange rusty flatworms that eat all you corals. If they are, I am just going to set up a QT tank, dip and transfer my corals over to this tank, move all the other inverts over too, and nuke the main tank with copper or some other chemical that will kill all these parasites.

the clear flatworms arent a big deal..they can actually be part of a healthy tank...ive had the orange ones before and believe me youd know if they were the orange kind...they are dark.orangey red all over...i wouldnt medicate anything for the flatworms....if u are super worried u can always get a sixline wrasse or something and youll never see them again...i do 5 gallon water changes weekly in my 29 biocube and thats also while running chemipure elite and purigen...i think every 2 weeks is ok as long as you arent overfeeding ...ive found feeding pellets for the main source of food grealty reduces the amount of waste that dissipates throughout the tank...u may want to look into brooklynella treatment for the tank while it is empty...the UV sterlizers that fit into the biocube may not be powerful enough to kill it if that is the only thing you are using...at that low wattage they provide clarification but probably not actual sterilization although i still recommend them

For the flatworms I agree with you, I haven't seen any negative effects on my corals yet, and the worms only seem to be on my glass. I am going to get the media basket and start to run chemipure and purigen soon, I still have to order it today. The brooklynella issue though, I am going to get the UV just to help, because I do know that it is not really strong enough to do much, but hey at least it will help a little, and also clear up the water a bit. I sort of don't want to get a sixline, because I had one, and he killed both my cleaner shrimp once in a previous tank. Any other colorfull wrasses that you would suggest? maybe a yellow corris, or leopard (though I heard that these were hard to keep).

yellow coris would be good if you got a small one..they are iffy ive heard with sps though...just curious did you add the sixline before or after the shrimp in the previous tank?
a very small mellanus (sp) may be ok too but a 30g is on the small side for those...what uv and pump are you running with the uv...just curious...i have the jbj nano-zap and about to get a 18gph pump for it..right now only have a 100gph pump

I am just going to run the oceanic biocube UV for it, and hook it up to the stock pump. And the I had 2 shrimp, one was added before the sixline, and the other after. The first one died, from what I thought was just age (he was really big) and the sixline was just nipping at him, but then the following week revealed the sixline as the culprit, because I caught him in the act on the second one.

Alright so I got a yellow and purple coris wrasse and a diamond goby yesterday, (as I said in the other thread). The wrasse has been out and about all day today, eating pods and checking out the tank. And to my enjoyment, my bangaii cardinal has come out to the front of the tank a lot more because of the wrasse I guess. The diamond goby though has made himself a cave in between two rocks, and has not come out since. During feeding though a big mysis shrimp passed by the opening of the cave, and he quickly gulped it down. I heard these guys were shy, so how long should it be until he is used to the tank. Also he is a professional jumper, he jumped at the store, he jumped in the bag on the way home, and he woke me up last night 5 times from jumping and hitting the glass cover I have on the tank. I think I need to get a mesh covering so he won't get anymore concussions.

Haven't posted on here for a while. Everything is doing good, I have gotten a few more frags from the frag swap. Mainly just letting everything grow. I finally got the aquatic mini skimmer, and is already pulling some good skimmate. Just want to know how low everyone has theirs, because at the height where I want it, the back cover doesn't fit properly. Also I have started to vodka dose, and I am seeing some really good results.
