So i am just curious but sometimes i see peoples fuge absolutely crystal clear/clean including the normal cheato rocks, etc....and others i see with all that but caked in green, red, etc algae...should i be scrapping my fuge or should i leave it?

Sump set up is a three chamber fuge...drain, fuge, return..

ANy thoughts..

I say leave it. My standalone fuge goes through "stages" where it'll be clear a while then a bloom will occur, etc. etc. I never touch it and it's almost back to crystal clear acrylic now. During clear times my cheato growth seems to slow greatly too so I attribute the swings to excess nutrient loads in the water versus a lack of nutrients at other times.

THat's what the fuge is there for anyways.....keep the nuissance algae growing there....not in the DT.

In the actual fuge area, I get a good bit of algae being that I run the fuge light 24/7. I generally leave this as it is good food for the snails.

As for the rest of the sump, I prefer to not have algae in the skimmer chamber or the return section. I clean these out every month or so.

thanks for the input, ill prob just leave it be in the actual fuge...
