I have a nice Rasta mini colony but it has some ever increasing hair type algae growing up in the colony between the polyps. I am afraid it is going to squeeze out the Rastas. Any good way to get the algae out?

Pure darkness for 2-4 days along with some crabs and snails will do it.

Coral will be fine for that long.

You can also try peroxide dips but I dont like doing that unless its totally needed.

Do you have any clean up crew that eats gha? My hermit crabs and emerald clean my newly acquired zoa that have gha on them real quick no matter if the lights are on or off. Lights off is usually for cyano, brown algae and stuff like that. Just a thought

My Coral QT tank use to have an overabundance of red leg hermits. When any algae formed on my zoas/palys in they went. Within a few hours the algae was history. Also my Rabbitfish would handle the algae, but would also eat the Rastas.
