Cool looking star, even if he looks like an alien. Usually I only see it come out at night. The other day my wife and kids yelled to me that the serpent was coming out of the rock. I was thinking to check the tank to see if anything was dead or weak as the serpent should not be coming out so early.

Then poof.. everybody screaming... The star just knocked a turbo off the LR, flipped it upside down and was about to digest him. I was able to get the star off the turbo and feed it some shrimp. so much for the star being nice to the tank.....

oh.. and to make it even better... I thought I lost a pepper shrimp to the star a few weeks ago. As the star was wrapped around the food, the pepper shot out from the bottom of the LR and was fighting the star for the food. (little dude has some guts :) )

LOL, too funny. I tried the star thing in my aquarium only to find that my Huma Huma Trigger liked it more than me.

I have attached two pics of the star. (normal and a close up) It has grown very large in about 5 months since it came out of the LR. What is starting to worry me is all the talk about green serpents being bad. It comes out each night and always hits the corner first. Almost like it stretches out for a minute or two and then crawls around the tank. I turned on the 10k lights for a second to take this shot.
The LFS sugested I get a Harlequin Shrimp, but i'm thinking it would be a huge was of money and time. I'm not about to go buy a star every week to feed the thing. (They sugested the shrimp because they would not take the star becuase it came from a LR)
Oh well.. If he behaves he stays :)

That looks more like a green brittle star. Yes they will hunt for food and take out whatever they can catch if not fed often. Silversides and carnivor pellets will work

I thought brittles had longer spikes on their arms? Never noticed the little spikes until I took the zoomed picture. (when you just look at it in the tank they appear to be smooth)
