Hey guys and gals,

Im running into a peculiar problem that I havent quite been able to correct. My alkalinity isnt wanting to rise any and keeps dropping. Its been hanging around 8dkh for a while and would like it to be around 10 or 11. My magnesium levels are at 1400 and my calcium holds steady at 450-470. pH has been going from about 8.1 to 8.3( hard to differentiate those shades of purple). Im dosing reef fusion( just the alkalinity part since my calcium is good). Any one have any advice on how i can tackle this problem?
Thanks
chris

Good question. Are you using a dosing pump? My tank seems to be about the same and I just keep upping the dose on the Alk.

Hey.im not using a dosing pump at the moment since it's only bc29 I've been manually dosing in the morning

Lower your calcium to around 400ppm and your Alk will come up. Calcium can be kept between 380-400 with no ill effects for most systems, Unless you have a system heavily stocked with SPS...agree with the above do some research on how Cal, ALk & Mg work together and the effects they have on one another...

I've never had to dose calcium even since I've gone sps dominate. I'm using Kent salt. Will probably switch to red sea
