So our 7 plug surge protector has run out of room and my husband upgraded to an 11 plug surge protector. Before we commit to the same or a new location, we need to deal with all these cords, because we know there will only be more! Our skimmer has on several occasion sprayed water all over the under cabinet and that’s just a disaster waiting to happen.

We are looking for a volunteer(s) that would like to help us plan placement of cords and controllers for mounting and maybe even a DIY divider wall to separate sump from other things in the cabinet. I can definitely make a home cooked meal for dinner with adult beverages. Both of us are working from home, so we are flexible as early as this week - East Cobb area. Thanks for anyone’s considerations and advice!

Yes there will always be more cords or switching at the least!!! Please try posting some pics of your sump and cabinet area to let us know what your working with space wise and everything. I actually used a kitchen cabinet on the side of my last tank as an electronics cabinet. I would also suggest getting plastic wire zip cords that can be reused, you could probably get them on amazon. I would also recommend a label maker or some way to label your cords, it will save you a lot of headache down the road.

This is my new diy build not finished yet but may give youe some ideas. Its just a cheap bookshelf i got at a thrift store for 9 bux then i added 2 staggered 2x4s across and mounted the shelves vertical on them. Best part is you can use velcro cable ties up front to make it look neat and then stuf the mess of cables it the back:)

Thanks! I previously used my label maker to identify the cords at the plugs. I also bought a big pack of Velcro cord wraps and sticky single power cord hangers too for little things like my led light and bulb feeder. I’ll get some photos after I get home from daughters practice.

That approach but under the cabinet is what we were thinking. The faux wall to separate the sump and possibility a faux wall to install power blocks on back of was our idea. However, we don’t have a dosing system today and need to think about even more things being added. Are you using that waterproof mdf type board or something else? Coated in exterior paint? Look for my sump photos later. I think there’s room if we do it well!

I have the faux wall in my other tank im selling. It become a tangled mess. Im sticke with a seperate cabinet from now on

This is what I’m going to attempt. The sump setup and size look really similar to my 300xl, but I still think I have a lot more cords to deal with behind the back than what’s in the photo. Lots of hooks and Velcro cords wraps I suppose!B33FBF21-64E5-417B-8DC2-EF32DCFE1D2A.png

No its just plywood and 2x4s no paint. Its shouldnt get to wet if placed well. I kept my doser on a lil shelf directly over the sump. Its place on the opposite side of the faux wall
