I dont know what this is.. but I doubt it's good...

or is 10,000 a more accurate guess?

It is good. Most will become snacks for hungry fish, but it's like adding to your CUC for free!

The cerith snail beside the ribbon of eggs did it. Ceriths do reproduce quite readily. I wouldn't worry - some might make it but most will probably end up as food for something else. I doubt you'll become overrun - but if you are, I'll trade 'em in for ya!

Yeah, unlike a FW tank where the snails can overrun the place, that's not a bad thing in a SW tank. They'll be self regulating. If you have too many, some will die, but if they're reproducing, things must be going right.

I've got a 90 right now that'll be ready to habitate on short order...

so I could use about 1,000 or so...

Your about to be a daddy to all those snails ...how does it feel

I would not think you ever see the majority of these reach visible age/size. If/when they hatch, the larval phase is usually obliterated. Some may reach miniature size.

I've got some in the tank now that started out as little solid white dots (say smaller than the o in this statement)...

as long as they stay on the glass and away from hermits, I would think they'll be pretty safe.. (I keep the shrimp pretty well fed with flakes)

either way.. I'll photo document the process here in the thread..
