Zoas are awesome...but imo they should be isolated or given their own tank.

I love them. They just seem to randomly melt on me at some point though, so I gave up on them for now.

I bought a frag at my first swap. It didn't do anything forever and then a crab knocked it into the sand when I was out of town so I thought it was dead. It's still there but it always looks like it's about half dead. That was almost 2 years ago .

Then there's the whole paly-toxin thing.

When I first started I was worried about paly toxin. I told myself "no more than a frag or two". Now I have mostly zoas in my tank!

One of my favorite corals... in my first saltwater tank it seemed like I could grow colonies in a matter of a month or two....now 15 years later,sps seem to grow like weeds and zoas don't do anything ... I have the same 6 polyps on some that they had when I got them. I dunno.

You are not alone. They look like the rocks got radioactive acne.
The only ones I like are Rastas, because they are tinier and will coat surfaces in a unique way.
