I have been reading up on Amino Acids and I am thinking about starting to dose them since I am now Carbon dosing. Wanted to see which brand everyone was using?
Seems like Elos AA gets good reviews and I have seen a number of people using Brightwell, but I have never used products by either company.

Thanks for the help

Thanks. I feed heavy as well, but I still might give a bottle a try.

Red Sea has some that are reasonably priced. Zeovit also has some highly regarded products.

We use Aquavitro Fuel. Our 65g store display speaks for itself. Lots of growth and great colours.

Which product did you use and for how long?

I will check out Red Sea, but Zeovit is one that I have been researching and seems to be very popular a long with Elos on other boards

Thanks for the suggestion.

Thank you Jenn for the suggestion. I do not know much about the Aquavitro line, but will do some research. I also need to get back up to your store. I might try to get up there this afternoon.

AquaVitro is a product line made by Seachem. Come on over! :)

I use Sechem Reef Plus, which is the pretty much the same as Fuel but lacks the fatty acids and carbohydrate (organic carbon), which I add seperately.

I have no complaints. Along with the carbon dosing (calcium acetate) it works very well.

FWIW- I have added frags/rocks with algae on them and that disappeared after several days to a couple of weeks. The only thing I have any trouble with is valonia, which is not spreading, but does not seem to disappear either (unless I pick the bubbles off).

Reef Plus has been around for a long time, and has been used as both an additive to the water, as well as a food soak. Seachem then formulated a product called Vitality which is somewhat similar to Reef Plus, but was formulated to be used as a food soak for fish.

Fuel is part of Seachem's AquaVitro line and is meant to be added to the water, and is intended for corals.

are you running a ulns? and do you feed your fish alot?

i dose vodka in my tank and unless i dont feed for a few weeks i dont see any changes in my corals when i dose aa, but some ppl say it the only thing to feed. if you thinking about it save your money and try fuel or the reef plus. ive tryed brightwell and that was pretty much crap and when i sent them an email he said i need to do it along with a butch of other stuff. the next one im dieing to try is the Zeovit aa and they have something else that help make the sps brighter.

is fuel and plus all most the same thing?

i know fuel is algae based and that why it give the cool neon color when you add it. ive used both in the past and really liked them.

I use to use fuel and tried some other similar product lines and my conclusion is why am I adding disolved organics to my system that I am trying to keep with low nutrients? I have been off of all amino acids and phyto for over a year and I am very happy with my decision, no plan on going back, except for the occasional oyster feast for my clam.

I am trying to run a ULNS. I am currently using Redsea NO3PO4-x as my carbon source, but looking at switching to vodka. I am also running a phosban reactor with Phosguard in it. Right now my NO3 is at 0 using a Salifert test and PO4 is at .03 using a Hanna Checker.
I do feed my fish pretty heavy with 2 feelings per day.

Have you seen any stn on your corals? I know zeo systems use up a good amount of aa potassium. That why the user must add it daily. And why are you thinking of going vodka?

No STN or RTN, but a few of my SPS just aren't coloring up properly. I was thinking of going with Vodka because of the success others have had and the saving over NO3PO4-X

What are your levels at and what lights are u running and how long have you been running pellets?
Do you have any swings? And what coral are lacking in color?

NO3 is reading 0 with a Salifert test and PO4 is reading .03 using a Hanna Checker. Cal is at 430ppm(Hanna checker) and Mg 1400). I run 2xAI Sol Blue units and at their highest % they are running at 70% w, 65% b, and 60%
What do you mean by pellets? If you are talking about phosguard than a week.
No swings that I have found and I have tested at different times during the day. As for color the only coral that is completely browned out is my strawberry shortcake Acro that I transferred from my other tank. The other Acros aren't brown, but also aren't showing really bright colors.

8.66dKH with a Hanna Checker, SG is 1.0256 with a Milwaukee digital refractometer, pH is 7.84 with pH probe and looks to be 8 with Salifert.

Not sure if I mentioned, but I am a heavy feeder as well. Mainly mysis and cyclopeze and I add selcon every other day to one of their feedings.
