These pics are a few months old, but it will give you a good idea. It's an Obiculate Batfish. It's the smaller of the two.

I wish it was my tank, but only if my client was still paying the power bill. This tank has 6 400w metal halides on it.

My client loves his batfish, but it's already eaten about $1000 in soft corals, so he's finally ready to give it up so I can really build his mixed reef up. It's eaten a 30" colt coral, 10 large mushroom rocks, a pom pom xenia rock the size of a basketball..

I was about to ask why batfish were in a reef tank. lol, I guess some people just have that kind of money...

Yeaaah.. It hasn't touched zoas, GSP, acros, ephyillia, pagodas or brains.

So is that what an adult looks like? The ones I saw at Optimum Aquarium looked like

Yeah, it hasn't touched the acropora. They're are 3 colonies in there right now growing well.

How do you clean and do maintenance on that tank - do you have to climb around the bathtub? Is it open from the back as well?

The bathroom side is fully closed. I have decent access on the bedroom side, as all of doors above the tank open. There's an overflow drain built into the sump that I use for automatic biweekly water changes. You can see my Tiger Shark scraper in one of the pictures. The tank doesn't grow much algae. It does make coral placement tricky on the bathroom side.

The halides are the worst part about doing heavy work inside the tank, as they're inches off the water. There's some VHO supplemental actinics for dawn/dusk effect. I'll be adding some LEDs and T5s soon to enhance it.

Andregarcia_73 was interested in buying the batfish. I posted the pics so he could see it. But this turned into a discussion anyway, so no biggie.

No worries. It was really just to show him the fish he was considering purchasing. It wasn't your typical for sale thread, and now that it's in discussion, discuss! :)

cool fish-I've seen them at Opt. aquarium-glad I didn't purchase one--since my tanks aren't big enough. what size tank is that anyways, Danny?

You know... I've always wanted to measure the thing, but it's always my last account of the day and I'm always there for about 2 hours. I just never get around to taking the 2 seconds it would. If I had to guess, I'd be 600-700 gallons with the filtration if my guess on the length is correct.
