so i have a gbta sitting on top of a rock structure at the very tippy top of my rockwork...his tenticles when fully extended are about 2 inches from the surface of the water

i have a 29gallon biocube and i normally do 5 gallon water changes.
if i were to do this the nem would be submerged for about 1 min which is bad..i can only take out 2-3 gallons and have most of him still submerged

it was suggested i do a few smaller water changes..this is ok but i realize multiple water changes of smaller amounts doesnt equal the benefits of one larger water change

this may be the most stupid question ever but is there a way to calculate have many (lets say 2 gallon) water changes itd take to have the same benefits as one 5 gallon water change assuming waste and such is distributed equally?

I would just go ahead and do the larger water changes... the anemones can be out of water for a while without suffering any ill effects. If you are only having it exposed to the air for a few minutes at a time, this should not bother it.

If the water changes do in fact stress the anemone, it will probably move to a spot lower in the tank.

Lol, that's what I figured. You should be good to go on the larger water changes... doing a ton of small changes is too much work :)

Don't sweat it at all. My anemone always is without water during my water changes never has an issue.
