So I have an anemone shrimp (it's small, clear, and has blue markings on its body and tail). Well, it has been in my tank for about two or three weeks now and moves about the live rock. Anyway, last night, he decided to move into my green bubble tip anemone that is already hosted by my Maroon Clownfish. This morning, I noticed my shrimp was in the sand and one of his front claws appears to be wrapped behind his head. He jumps when I touch him with a feeder stick but his arm looks pretty rough. I moved him into a breeding net so that the other fish cannot bother him and hopefully he may recover. My questions are:

- Do shrimp usually recover broken(?) limbs?

- I read that clown fish and anemone shrimp may host the same anemone but, are Maroons more likely to fight to have the anemone to itself? I find it "convenient" that the shrimp is injured less than 12 hours after moving into the clowns anemone.

- I recently moved the Maroon Clown out of a tank that had Perculas b/c I was advised of their aggression (though he was not showing any aggressive behavior toward them). Are these fish aggressive toward invertebrates as well?

Thank you all for the advice!

I've seen anemone shrimp vigorously defend "their" host anemone. I've never seen them share... but then I don't typically put both in a position where somebody gets kicked out either.

As for the shrimp, the lost limb will likely regenerate when it molts again. I know claws grow back, I would think this is similar.

Like Jenn said.. It should grow back.. It can take a few molts to get it back to how it should be though.

I had a coral banded that last a limb and it took 2 or 3 molts to get back like it was..
