These are way cool!

Doh! I just realized this was a prank! Apparently there are Lightning Clowns, but only two.

Wow! Those are awesome. Now, they need to figure out how to do that with gold-stripes. That would look incredible!

Edit: HA! Guess I fell for it too. Oh well.

Not sure what part you’re referring to as a prank, but the clown pictured at the top of your link is real and was wild caught off of PNG. Seemed like it was about 1-2 years ago. Blue Zoo acquired the clown and several folks were contacted for sale … asking price was $5k. Ultimately, a deal was struck with a clown breeder for some number less than that with stipulations on the offspring. It was paired with a normal female maroon. Haven’t heard much since. I vaguely remember someone stating they collected another lighting maroon, but the specimen looked nowhere near as cool/crazy as the striping in the original lighting clown pictured in your link.

There is only one clown, and Matt Pederson owns it, and is attempting to breed it to another Maroon clown from PNG.

All of us at the banquet at the last year's MACNA in Orlando gave a huge ovation (sp?) when the keynote speaker, who was talking about Papau New Gineau as a new source of marine ornamentals, showed us a photo of the lightning clownfish!

I'll be honest, if these actually end up being bred, I'd probably end up setting up another tank just house them. I think they are about the coolest looking clown fish out there.
