So i am looking to change the light to something alil more clean on my frag tank and im not sure which way to go. My DT is 3 250's and 4 t5's and i would like something alil similar so it wont be much difference when i swap frags. Both tanks are starfire and rimless so im thinking one day id like to remove my canopy and go with some hanging led fixtures. With that said, any suggestion for one to start with on my frag tank, maybe something similar to a 150 or 250 MH? or should i just go for a pendant or something with legs..

Frag tank is 24 x 14 x 14...

I forget... is your frag tank also a display? As in... is it in a main room of the house... or is it in the basement?

If aesthetics (sp?) arent tops on your list you could find a used lumenmax elite or the like and hang it over the frag tank. I'm guessing a 250 watt 14k or so would be good for a frag tank.

I'll sit back and see what other responses you get. I plan on making the fuge section of my sump a frag area as well.

Mines in the main room of the house right next to the DT...so aesthetics is important

I have the almost exact same setup and placed my frag tank right next to my display tank. It is plumbed through the same sump. I did a uinique build and I think it looks really good. It actually has a stand that holds my top off water. Works great. The stand was built by member here who did a great job. I chose a Giesemann light fixture and hung it from the ceiling. It is 150 with 2 T5s. I run the Phoenix bulbs in my display and use the same in the frag tank. Has worked out really well. I could supply pictures or there may be some on here already.

best light out there is a 175w iwaki 15k for that size tank. its about the best option for cost/par/wattage/color.

Get the 24" key led fixture, looks neat and should be close to MH at that depth plus they make it in a blue edition now

I have a frag tank about that size and have a DIY LED pendant over it. Just an option, and may be fun to build :) I made a stand out of painted PVC pipe, and IMO, it looks pretty good as far as stands go :)

It also gives me control over how much light goes into the tank, and I don't have any heat issues and so forth that I may have with MH.

Just an option :)
