I've read all the posts recently about QT's and decided to set one up today. I wanted to go the extreme route and QT absolutely everything from here on out, fish, inverts, even LR and sand.
Tomorrow, I'm getting a clean-up crew for my tank. I've heard that it's probably okay to bypass QT for these critters, so I thought "okay, maybe I won't......"
But <u>now</u> I'm reading all the new stuff being posted about ich and how even hermies can be carriers, so I'm back to the *extreme* QT line of thinking, i.e.: "<u>everything must spend 3 weeks in the 10 gal before going into the main tank</u>."
Well, here's my specific question:
<span style="color: darkred;">"What environment can you possibly set up in a QT tank for a clean-up crew?"</em></span>
What do they live on?
Do you feed them? If so, what?
Do you put live sand and LR in your QT?
What kind of filter?
Need answers pretty soon since I'm setting this up today. I have no colonized sponge filters (not even sure what those are) in my main tank, so I don't know what I can put into the QT from my main tank other than the water.
So far, all I have is the 10 gal tank. I'd like this to be as cheap and simple as possible.
Here's my incoming crew:
6 Astrea Snails
4 Mexican Red Leg Hermits
1 Emerald Crab
6 Nassarius Snails
1 Serpent Star
Will they all be fine in a 10 gal for 3 weeks?
Will they decide to snack on each other if they get bored?
Do I need to purchase a PlayStation III to keep them occupied?
Help, please.
Thanks!
