Another random death

It looked a little unhappy yesterday where it is now dead. When I came downstairs after the lights came on this am it looked like this. Has some strange brown stuff on it aw well. I've already moved all of my snails to the sump and added bumblebee snails in case vermitids were causing my recent problems. WTF is going on here?!

Beats me. First time I've ever seen it.

Should I cut off the dead part? Take the whole thing out and dip it in some Revive?

I'll get a better pic with a filter when I get home.
