My friend's tank just busted a seem last week and ruined his hardwood floors and more. I just set up a tank for my wife's office and she's worried the same will happen.

Does anyone have any experience with a water flood alarms? I see them on the internet for $10-$40 dollars. Most of them are to alarm if your hot water heater dumps water on the floor, which sounds good enough for an aquarium leak.

Thanks,

Mark

I cannot see what it would help with. Yea, you know when your house flooded a few hours earlier, but all-in-all, the damage would be done. I've heard they're good if you can get them to hook up to a pump for a basement to prevent a flood in inclement weather, but...no direct experience though.

I have these "
a>" and they work pretty well. Definitely saved me a couple times already. I want to upgrade to the alarms that work with AquaControllers to send and email or SMS when water is detected.

good points. I was thinking tank burst, I do suppose a leak would be much more common.

We had one... works like a charm. Our 40 starting having issues and it made us aware right away!

I have a couple that are similar--got it at Lowe's I think. They've saved me many times!

for 10 -15 bucks these alarms are worth it imo. I mean sure if your tank explodes they wont do much or even if your at work, but al least if you're sleeping and it happens it could save you. I know it would have saved me once if I had had one.

I've never seen the ones that can email or SMS you...anyone have a link?

btw, this is sad....he had an amazing set up:
