Any idea how they made this plate tree?

I actually traded to Mellissa for a plate tree one time also, it was green with purple rimmed, It wasnt quite as big as the one you got but it was most definately something everyone wanted, I ended up trading mine to Big D a couple years back, wonder if he still has it.

Thats some cool stuff i have one baby plate that i got from Rit and i hope it turns
into a plate tree.

I have never held onto any of the babies long enough to grow them out. I would not own this plate tree if it were a coral with a large footprint. Outside of chalices, I don't give a lot of real estate in my tanks to corals other than SPS.

Any one know what happened to Big D

The "plate tree" is awesome. From my experience with mine, just as everyone says the babies sprout when another plate dies. For example I have a little piece of Live rock rubble that had one plate on it, it dropped and I put it in the sand, (now it has been sold to Curtis mitchell, just a plate not the tree). After the one plate dropped there was a coral flesh like skin on the base of where the plate was. It will always grow another one IME. Some algae started to grow over the plate this time around and was crowding the coral from developing. When this was happening the plate sprouted/grew 4 baby heads/plates (yeah). From what we all are experienceing here it sounds as there is a way to force the coral to sprout multiple babies, maybe. I may be interested in selling mine or half of it for sure.
