Any one got any Fish food recipes?

First off check where you get your fish from ask if it comes in frozen. If it does it probably has preservites that will enter your closed systems. But I use shark, nori, king crab, scallops, shrimp, brine, plankton, carrots, flounder think that's it

Apparently it was a hit..

Raw squid, raw fish, an apple, broccoli and lots of garlic (fresh), a bag of frozen seafood mix, carrots and fish roe (salted, but de-salted with RO water)....

Any particular raw fish?

Seems like this mix would make enough for a year or more (maybe I'm just imagining veeerrry large portions). I'll have to PM you for what proportions you used.

No particular, as long as it is a SALTWATER fish you're feeding you're fine.
Don't try a FW one, lacks all the nutrients our boys need...

I usually buy the cheapest, they're still human food grade - so I don't worry...

Anyone got a idea of where us guys further south can get some of this stuff I don't know of a farmers market near me

Can you take a frozen mix and blend it then refreeze in cubes? I went by Publix and they have octopus ,squid, muscles/clams and shrimp mix in the seafood department for $3.50 for big frozen bag.

Yup,
That's what I do - careful though, some processors get so hot they will cook the stuff, literally.
Don't leave it on extended times

Wal-Mart also carries it.
I found whole pollock roe in the sack at my asian market. They do not call it "fish eggs" though like the lil red eggs so I stumbled on it myself. Fish go nuts for it. You can even slice off a frozen piece and put it on a veggie clip. They go nuts.

Frozen seafood mix contains phosphates and other chemicals. DONT buy your seafood at a grocery store. Excepat Maby scalops at ingles are ok they are the only meat with no preservitives. Occasionally you can get crab no preservatives. I usually pick my shrimp n seafood up when I'm in charleston from the fisherman themselves. I'm really surprised so many people on here are adding all kinda stuff to there tanks without checking the labels. May as well not use to water to lol :)

The bags of frozen seafood contain nothing but seafood, absolutely no preserves or anything.
You're thinking of the processed seafood....

If you get it from a grocerystore like mentioned above it sure does. Like I used ingles as an example. You buy there fresh or frozen seafood it ALL contains preservatives except there scalops. All food at the local sore has a label take a peek at it. Better yet what store are you going to and I'll tell you the specifics for that grocery store.

No I wouldn't read that label again it contains more then seafood. But it ain't my tank so hey. But i do think it may be bad advice to give without being giving all the facts first. Hey it may work for you.

Buford Highway Farmers Market

Now let me hear what's in it (and what the label doesn't say) - I am preparing for a lawsuit against that company then.... :lol2:

Are you not replying to markl here saying you get your frozen bag of seafood mix from publix. Cause that's how I am reading it. That's y I said that was bad idea unless you at least give them the facts it contains preservitives first. This is what you use though correct??

NO,
I use the mixed seafood from the Buford Highway Farmers Market...
