Oh, and take the blade off when you finish using it and rinse it off. Ask me how I know that they rust.

Yup.. Always make sure you remove the blade when done using it and give it a rinse and dry it..

I have been using the long handled scraper and I will tell you - I have gotten a little close to the silicone edges quite a bit - should I be worried? anything I can do to reinforce without breakin it down? I have had lots of thought of it all crashing down in my living room...scares the hell out of me

I had 1 or 2 knicks in my old tank and it was fine.. As long as you don't dig all the way into the corner you should be fine..

I loosen mine and run water on both sides of razor and place on paper towel. No need to take blade completely off. A great tool!

That would work fine too... I just do it the other way because the MagFloat stays in the tank all the time. I only install the blade and scrape every few weeks.

ok good, I dont get all up in there but sometimes im not paying attention and knick the edges a bit. Sometimes my tank makes little noises (nothing really) and I say to myself..."here we go" and wait for the tank to spill out like in the movies..

Other than a ATO this is a must for your system! Especially with a big tank and way too much coraline algea growth!

Not to get off topic in my own thread but....doc, did you ever play and finish bio shock 2? I rented it but didt get far in the 5 days i had it, got it coming again from gamefly in a couple days...really excited to get back into it.
