I was wondering what your long term success has been and are you hand feeding them? I've got a colony that I purchased at MACNA and it is slow fading. At one time it was thriving but not now. I really like them but wonder about them long term.

Since i've gotten mine 2 months ago i'd have to say mine are doing quite well for not spot feeding them, now don't get me wrong they would prolly open up more in the daytime if i did spot fed them, but hey it's kinda interesting wondering if there going to be moody day to day lol

au01st is keeping a beautiful colony. He cut a two liter coke bottle in half and rests it directly over the colony to feed. A very good idea. How are the other corals in your tank doing? Water params in check?

I started with a single head a couple of years ago, which has grown to about six heads. I spot feed at least once a week, two times max. I just feed whatever frozen food the fish are getting that week. I've not had any trouble over the years.

I got mine at MACNA last year and they are still doing great. When I first got them I would spot feed them all the time, but now I don't feed them at all (I do dose coral snow however). I have found that that like lower flow. When mine where in a high flow area they rarely extended, but in low flow they extend all the time. I started with 2 heads and now have about 15 heads, although all the new hads are all small in size.

This is an older ipc.

The rest of my coral flock is doing great with no issues.

Mmm, I like the idea of the coke bottle. I should have thought of that. I really think it's a feeding issue.

The coke bottle is for my yellow suncoral colony, keeps the cleaner shrimp at bay. I also have a single head of dendro that is spot fed mysis at least every other night. It has yet to produce any new buds, and i got it in December. I recently picked up a colony of black branching sun coral and have been feeding that with a turkey baster, coke bottle wont fit over it.

Whoops my apologies. I could have sworn you had those dendro's under the bottle.
