I have an Apex and radions on order but I was told by Scott at Aquarium Specialty that you cannot control radions with an Apex using a VDM module. Is this the case? If you can control your vortech pummps, why can't you control the radions? Anybody have radions and an apex system. How do you control them? Thanks.

AFAIK, there is no external controller compatible with the Radions at this point. Best you can do with them is control power on or off right now. The Radion will control Ecotech pumps, however. I have Radions as well.

With the radions the only programming you can do is with a computer hooked up to a USB to the radion. I contacted both ecotech and Neptune and there keeping everything top secret till they release it publicly. I would think that since the radion can communicate with the vortechs they should be able to control both with the module. To be honest the program from ecotech program is definitely not the best. Very frustrating to program and actually work very finicky.

Are they planning to release an upgrade so they can be controlled remotely? Maybe I should have gone with AI Sol.

You can program the outlet the Radion is plugged into. I have mine set for fail safes etc. don't see why you would need any further programming besides what EcoTech offers. Once you set your lighting program, it's set. Unless you want to add a alternate weekend program or something...I guess. Not a deal breaker in my book.

Even if you can't control the radions, the AI would have been a poor choice, IMO.

I just thought that I I would be able to turn lights on and off as well as dim from my mobile.

You'll be able to turn them on and off. Don't really understand the need to be able to dim the lights from your mobile, other than initially being able to program the lights via the mobile device. Trust me the Radion is a great fixture. I'm sure you'll get past your reservations.

I'd be a little surprised if Neptune didn't release an update allowing the Radion to be controlled by the WXM module at some point.
