Subject says all- does anyone know of a sponsor store in town that carries the 12"x12" size of polyfilter pads?

Good to know and kudos Jenn.

Also any company that does custom air filters will have what ya need by the foot.

I get mine from the local fabric store it's the same as poly stuffing for quilts and pillows.

I never actually got around to getting any, but it should be noted (to everyone here :) ) that Polyfilter pads are more than just poly fill. From http://www.poly-bio-marine.com">their website</a>:
Poly-Filter® sorbs excess organics such as amino acids, proteins, lipoproteins, dissolved organic matter, all forms of phosphates, tannins & humic acids and related complexes. Poly-Filter® also sorbs volatile organic chemical such as chloroform, bromoform, benzene, phenols and organophosphate insecticides/pesticides. All metabolic wastes are sorbed by Poly-Filter®.
Poly Fill is just a mechanical filter. I was looking for the Poly-Filter in order to remove organics...

I thought poly filters were originally used in nuclear reaearch, but they were specifically invented for aquariums, per the poly bio marine website.

Are you looking for bonded filter material or PolyFilter by Polybio Marine?

I don't want to tread into commercial territory in the wrong forum... PM me and I might be able to help you out - just wanted to distinguish between the two different products.

Just make sure it hasn't been treated with fire-retardant. That might not end well if it has been.

haha that wouldnt be good! i always rinse mine with really hot water then rinse it with RODI Water (i would even do this with the stuff from the LFS..)

Fire retardant won't wash off... it's on there so if you make a pillow/quilt etc., it won't burn (or burn you) in a fire.
