Looks like it measures alk digitally instead of doing it the test kit way.

I have had one for about a month now. They changed over to a liquid reagent that solved the accuracy problems of the meter with the powder reagent (issues with complete dissolution). I am very happy with this meter. It is very reproducible and easy to use. Results are consistent with my SeaChem test kit. It is more user-friendly than the phosphate meter.

I have heard they are good. Eventually I might look into buying some. But for now my Seachem test kits do just fine.
