anyone have one of these

If it's the only tang in the tank they are fairly easy to keep while others that are kept with more tangs suffer ich outbreaks almost instantly. My experience, of course.

i saw that too but was curious if anyone here has kept one with success

Please tell me you are going to have a big enough tank if you get one. Don't be like a certain someone who kept a scopas in a 40b.

im not getting one right now but i am thinking of future upgrades
i love the way this fish looks
if i get the job i am applying for maybe a 210 build

That would be beast. If you end up getting one, let us know, cause that's an awesome fish. I love that and there's a trigger fish that has similar markings to a juvenile emperor angel that's neat looking, too. Not sure what it's called.

nemos had one in for 2 days not eating when i got him. hes only eats off the rocks. i have to train him to eat actual fish food. he not a once got ick not what so ever, knock on wood. they do need larger the a 90 for sure. mine is happy in the 120. isee nothing wrong with a scopus in a 40 breeder if its medium in size....

i dont know how to post a link but you can search for wills 40 breeder build thread in reef discussion

Tie nori around a rock and let him find that. Add some pellets wrapped up in it or 1/2 a cube of frozen. He'll dig it

Ive had 4, all purchased at 2" or less.

#1: went in never saw it again.
#2: went in, but never ate and disappeared
#3: Put him in my frag tank alone with new nori every day for a month till he was eating whatever I put in there. Put him in the tank and he did just fine after that. Ended up being one of the many losses of the last crash.

#4: Same as #3 he is doing fine right now.

Temperment wise, the last one was pretty docile untill he was no longer the smallest tang. Then he started chasing tangs twice his size, and every few months someone would show up with a cut. He was a little PINA but nothing murderous. He got to 5" before the crash. I have a good feeling they will get REALLY mean once they get close to or larger then the other tangs.

Basically once you get them eating, cross your fingers they dont start channeling the devil.

Unfortunately, these fish do not ship well, and many are lost before acclimating to their new home. And those that do live, typically end up being murderous. Sadly, we cannot undo 50 million years of behavioral evolution to make these fish what we want. They are aggressive, territorial fish, and they have, and will inflict harm on other fish. Just my opinion.

Man its a bummer to read all of this, because I was really hoping to put one in my system.

I have had mine for almost two years now. He lives in my 200 gallon reef along with a purple tang and about about 20 other small fish. He is about 7 inches now fat and happy.
