Anyone know if these valves are SW safe?

I found these valves at $7 a piece with REASONABLE s/h, not like US Plastics...

I know what all the abbreviations are except the one that appears will actually be in contact with salt water: Paking (NBR). I'd like to use this to control the flow through a calcium reactor, and I'd like to have a couple on hand for misc applications in the future. Can anyone tell from this diagram if it will be SW safe, or will I start introducing lots of bad stuff into the water? I contacted the vendor and the response was that the product was designed for RO systems and he's never used one for the purpose I listed, so he cannot comment. I guess he didn't want to take one apart, not knowing I was planning to purchase more than one, and more than just that.

FWIW, this vendor also has 1/4" quick connect bulkheads for $3 a piece. I'm gonna need 5-6, and that was going to be $40+ shipped from US Plastics or AquaCave.com, but will be under $25 from this guy.

I would say as long as the brass is not touching the saltwater should be ok but don't know for how long. Looks like in diagram that it is rubber making the seal. (NBR) is Nitrile butyl rubber I believe....

Yes, brass is a no-no, but this won't be submerged. That NBR is making the seal, but didn't know what that stood for (til now!), so that answers that question! Guess I'll give them a go and see for myself.

Thanks!

Will do. I think I would have had to punch myself in the face if I ordered one from US Plastics at $12 + $8 s/h...

It'll be fine. I have one, that i've had on my ca reactor for the last 5 years. Still works perfectly, no problems. Precise effluent flow.

That is exactly what I want! Great to hear.

Well, got this valve installed, works like a charm. And that's not the bubble counter, it's the water flow indicator...

And here is the source. $7 a pop, and he also carries JG bulkheads for $3 a pop. Very quick shipping.

Precise control over CA reactor feed. I can get down to drops per second if I want. It'll be much easier to control/measure ml/min. Plus it's cooler than the ball valve that still costs $6 at Home Depot or Lowes, and I was getting bulkheads anyways...

Haha, it's really you that inspired me. After your DIY sump build, I PM'd you looking for the valves. You pointed me to US Plastics. Well I get a fair bit of downtime at work and set myself to find the cheapest SW safe valve I could.

Too bad the valve came with blue fittings, red would have been preferred, but I can always swap those if I need.

OH NO MRC valves are much better than these!! Just ask RAJ. If you don't believe me.
