I would personally use rubber. I used those "make your own rubber washer" kits from HD for a few bucks. I just stacked 2-3 of them together and put it under the pump.
If you are running your return in sump if that foam degrades its going to shoot bits all over your tank.
I put rubber tool box liner under my sump (not in it) to quiet my pumps. Good question though, cause from time to time I do get a little rattle, what is safe to put in the water?
Much better than expected, amazing SPS growth. Does come with its share of algae though. I only run my lights about 4-5 hours a day because of it. I ran the whites for 1.5 hours a day and blues for 4 hours per day until just a couple weeks ago.
^^
Nice, I will make sure to decrease the photoperiod and slowly ramp it up over time. Glad to hear all is well and you are liking them. Did you add any additional lighting to supplement?

I havent supplemented it in any way but am thinking about some moonlights since my photo period is so short. I didnt have any issues with bleaching at all, only algae. Mine sit about 6" or so off the water. I have heard of a few people upgrading from MH that did have some bleaching, I had T5. I dont know if thats a coinky dink but its all I noticed that were the same.
