I've been thinking, buying food at lfs is convenient but expensive, and doesnt last long enough. I've been doin some light research on mixing your own blend of food. Its seems much cheaper and not that hard. Does anyone mix their own blend? Whats your recipe? How to fish like it?

I buy frozen raw shrimp from the local grocery store to feed my tank. Just thaw them out and cut them to size.

I like to spoil my fish, im looking for a variety mix.

What are you feeding now? How big is your tank, and what type of fish?

I have a 40 breeder, i feed frozen mysis somedays, rod's on other days. I have a clownfish pair, lyretail anthias, tailspot blenny, and a rhino blenny.
I have sps, lots of lps, and anemone

I did that once. I bought scallops, shrimp and baby squid fron the Buford Hwy FMKT. I added some ,Selcon, brine shrimp and crushed pellets. My fish and corals loved it but I did it wrong and the shrimp were almost liquified. Next time I do it I will freeze everything first and see how that turns out.

I have a 46Gal bow front with 6 fish, and plenty of coral. It takes me about 4 to 5 weeks to go through a bag of Larry's Reef Frenzy. Not sure what store you buy your food from, but there are several stores in the Atlanta area that carry it.
You won't have a need to feed anything other type of food. LRS Reef Frenzy has everything in it that will cover your reef tank. If you haven't tried it, you need to. Guarantee you will be happy with it. There are loads of people using it in the Atlanta area...ask around, or search on here.
I break off a piece about the size of a thumb. I then thaw it in an Ice Cube tray and then using a Turkey Baster...I broadcast it in front of a Powerhead, and target feed some corals. My wife normally just drops a chunk about the size of a nickel on one of the Powerheads and lets it dissolve. Cleanest food you'll find.

Hey looks like Im not the only one that spoils my fish :D
I like this mix and I just put it in a mini Blender and just pulse a few seconds and then I put in a few small containers and freeze . Then take 1 out let it thaw and it usually last week to a week and half

Well many stores have completely replaced Rod's with LRS. LRS has taken the East Coast by storm, and is heading West. Pretty much the Eastern half of the US is buying up all he can make. The newest addition of his food will have Pro Biotics in it. Lots of research has gone into his mixes. With the lab results on the Pro Biotics just released...big time results! You can follow countless testimonials on other Club Forums as well.
Type in Reef Frenzy into Google search. :lol2:

Everyone has at some point. That is what I use while on vacation.

Funny thing is, the guy that was helping me asked what I was making lol I told him it was fish food and he was like "they get better food than I do" and I thought, yeah me too.

May depend on store, around $20/8oz bag.

There has been many long threads about this topic on this forum. Try searching and I'm sure you will find a few. After doing some research for a few months on trying to make my own food I decide to just go with LRF. After using LRF for the past few months I decided it would be a big waste of time and effort to try and make my own. LRF is the best frozen food I have ever used hands down. Once you go LRF you don't go back!
