So I set everything up a few weeks back, but was never able to access the unit away from my network. I have a static IP address that goes directly to my router, but beyond that I can't get back into the Apex.

I've rebooted both units a number of times, but now I can't even get into the Apex even being connected to my home network. I can see an "unknown" IP address on my router, but I can't access it.

I'm pretty sure there's no way to wipe the Apex clean and back to factory without a display (which I don't have). I've tried going directly to the different IP addresses that the Apex normally has, but no luck.

I should mention that the Apex is hardwired into the router and I have green and yellow lights on the unit itself.

Any ideas?

For the outside access problem, have you forwarded your Apex port to it's IP address inside your router? Under most brands of routers, you create this rule under a tab called something like port forwarding or gaming.

How are you typing the address into IE?

Try
a> Assuming you use the standard home router convention, the 192.168.1 part will be the same. xxx is the IP of the Apex as you see it in the router, and port will be either the defaut port of the Apex or whatever you set it to.

Doh! I completely forgot about typing the port at the end. I'm not home right now, but I'll do that as soon as I am. I still may have problems with outside access, but I DID use the port forward on my router.

Well, I tried that and I still can't find it! I'm on a Mac FWIW.

I type in 192.168.1.100 (or 103 since they both show on my router as unkown) - nothing
Type both those in again with the port I have in the router forwarding - nothing
Type both those in with the default port(s) said to be used by the Apex - nothing
Forgot to mention I am using the : before the port nunber.

Arggh!

had a problem with mine, so i called the people at Apex and he fixed it for me. GREAT customer service. you need to have a green light and a BLINKING yellow light. Thats all i know. do a search on the net for Apex to get the number.

I think that's only the case if you're going wireless. I'm plugged straight into the Router

What type of router do you have Tex? also what ip are you using if you are using 192.168.x.x externaly you will never see your box pm me for further details I can go into further detail and you wont have to put public ip info on a public forum.

Also keep in mind that your port forwarding is only utilized for inbound traffic coming in from the public internet and not your LAN.
