Apex Questions

I'm able to access my Apex Lite through my laptop and have everything configured so far except my email and assigning a static IP address.

Can anyone offer guidance on those two? I've set up the the email (does not use SSL) just like I have on my phone, but I can't seem to get it to send a test email.

Also, I'm able to view the temp and PH from the web interface, but I can't seem to turn off any outlets from the status page. ???

Check and see how many "outlets" you're showing. I found that I had two sets. Reading their help forums, that's a really common problem.

I'm no Apex pro, but I think assigning it a "static" IP address is done through your router. Typical you can set the router such that it reserves (and assigns) a specific IP address to a certain MAC address (think that's what it is called). Good luck!

For what it's worth, I had to do this for network printer.

If you haven't downloaded the unofficial apex users guide you need to. It walks you through setting up everything. Just google "apex new user guide".

Thanks Chris. I've found that already. It's 12:10 am and none of my lights are off according to schedule. Yet my data log and graphs show them being "off". I should add that I'm using a legacy DC8, for now, so there's no way for the Apex to read any amperage, BUT it should still be able to tell whether an outlet is on or off, no?

I will tell you if it's commanded to be off.

If you did the module add correctly which it sounds like you did because you can see the DB8 on the apex. There might be a problem with your program code.

Unless you choose "advanced" as an outlet type, I'm nout sure where you could make a mistake in the program.

Good point. You can contact neptune. They can connect to the apex via telnet and check everything out. It's probably something simple. Once you get it up and running you are gonna love it.

I might have found the problem. When I go into the "Module Setup" section on the web interface, my module is not showing up. I try to add the DC8, but still nothing shows up in the module list. It's weird because I can "see" the outlets on the status page and all are addressed appropriately (A1-A8).

Edit: OK, apparently no module will show up when you add a DC8, but the outlets will be there. Back to square one!

Legacy modules (that must be manually added) DO NOT show up on the list of Modules, only Aquabus modules (EB4, EB8, PM1, etc) do. Did you confirm the address switches on the side of the DC8 match the addresses you added when manually adding the DC8. Alternatively, you can set the switches to match the addresses you added to the Apex. To test the configuration try manually turning the outlets on and off from the status page.

Haha! I'm embarrassed to say, I had the cable plugged into the wrong port on the DC8!! I had it flipped around differently an it's awfully dark behind my stand.
